Lay Me Down To Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep,
This big secret I must keep,

I kept it from these prying ears,
For they might learn their biggest fears,

I call the master of deceit,
And he will stand before my feet,

He’ll listen closely,
Smile slowly,

At all these sins
that I’ve just told him,

But I will caution,
And remember often,

That there is a price,

For if you catch the sin of greed,
He’ll see to it your secret is freed,

For he the master of deceit,
Will help you through this dreary feat.

But if you turn away his power,
You’ll feel the hate rise like a tower,

The person you hoped that you could save,
Is the same person that rants and raves.

This person learnt the secret I kept,
And now his heart has turned and leapt,

I was not to interfere,
With that life he held so dear

I broke the rule I said I’d keep,
Now master lays me down to sleep,

In this cold damp bed of mine,
Where I will lay for all of time.

The lesson here I sought to tell,
Is never take from those who fell.
